Darrel Sutton, founder of BGE Indoor Air Quality Solutions, would always say, “if it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t filter.” That became an unofficial mantra in the company, and it’s something we’ve used to guide us at Clean Air Club.
Having a high quality filter that can capture and trap harmful contaminants from your air is really important for maintaining a healthy home. That’s why we offer only MERV 13 filters—so that you have the highest reasonable level of filtration.
But equally, if not more, important is having the right size of filter for your furnace. If there is any space between your filter and your furnace, the air will simply spill around the filter and into your HVAC, sending unfiltered air into your home. This is known as bypass, and it prevents your filter from doing its job.
So how do you avoid bypass? The best thing you can do is make sure you’ve got a filter that fits correctly. Some filters come in sizes with one-inch increments, and your filter may require something that is ⅜” larger than an even inch. That’s why it’s important to know the exact size of filter your furnace needs, and try to find a filter that fits.
Clean Air Club offers the widest range of filter sizes to make sure your furnace and air filter are working the way they should be for your home. If you need a size that isn’t on our site, get in touch and we’ll help you find it.
